Paralympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina was established in 1995. in order to contribute to the sport re-socialization of a large number of persons with disabilities and that the training process reaches sports results which will worthily represent our country in international sports competitions.
That same year Paralympic Committee is recognized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the European Paralympic Committee (EPC).
Based on the expressed desire and created opportunities activities have been initiated on the development of athletics, sitting volleyball, swimming, archery, basketball in a wheelchair, winter sports, table tennis … very quickly reached an enviable level of quality and already 1,996 years. best athletes with disabilities Bosnia and Herzegovina took part in the Paralympic Games in the US ATLANTA 1996. At the Paralympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 involved two athletes, Almedin Osmanovic (100m and 200m) and Mustafa Guhdija (spear) . Already in the first participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the greatest sporting event of invalids were achieved exceptional results. Our athletes won the fourth and eighth place in athletics.
This is followed by the formation and sports federations for individual sports as well as participation in major international sports competitions. The number of participants in national competitions each year was growing, and international competitions, results we achieved were for admiration. National team of our country in sitting volleyball is a double gold medalist at the Paralympic Games in Athens in 2000 and London in 2012 and silver medal in Sydney 2004 and Beijing 2008. Multiple winners of the world and European medals.
Swimmers, skiers, table-tennis, athletics and basketball in wheelchairs are worthy of presenting our country at major international sports competition’s disabled athletes.
Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2010 for the first time participated in the Winter Paralympic Games in Vancouver 2010, where our country was represented by one competitor Nijaz Memic. But already in 2014 year at the Winter Paralympic Games in Soshi 2014 BiH Ski team with two competitors, one of which is a young promising skiers Ilma Kazazić, represented Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 2014. launched the process of re-registration PKBIH. That same year, Election Assembly of the Paralympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina which elected President, Secretary General and members of the Executive Committee. Proces conversions have lasted very long, the Paralympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina a year later officially got a solution by which this association is the only legitimate organization on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina that can represent and promote Paralympic sport at the Paralympic games and major international events.
